Based on the original Stormtrooper Stunt helmet, this Battle spec helmet is made using modern production processes but retains the feel and soul of the originals. With accurate detailing and a down-to-earth price, it’s perfect for the wear and tear of Trooper events.
Description
After many requests, we’ve made a helmet which is not only for collectors but also for costumers, specifically designed for the rigours of costuming. Moulded parts that replicate the originals as accurately as possible are combined with modern production processes to create an authentic-looking replica at an affordable price - perfect for Trooping events.
- Fabricated in white 2mm Acrylic capped ABS to withstand the wear and tear of costuming events.
- Lower cost as the Battle spec helmet is cnc machined with mouldings replacing the hand painted parts on the original Stunt helmet.
- Moulded parts accurately replicate details of the originals.
- Supplied with flat green lense material – the exact hue of the 1976 originals.
- The asymmetry of the original Stunt has been squared up in the Battle spec and the back of the helmet is blown up and belled out.
Authentic
The Original Stormtrooper Battte spec helmet is superior to other similarly priced products on the market because the devil is in the detail. This helmet is derived from the Stunt helmet which uses the original 1976 moulds of the on-screen helmets. The moulded parts are therefore sharp in detail and replicate accurately the original features.
Andrew explains "We'd had many requests for a lower cost Stormtrooper helmet. With so many inaccurate and poorly made helmets out in the marketplace I decided to create the Battle spec helmet which re-creates the feel and soul of the original, but at a realistic price for costuming."
How it all started
In 1976 Andrew Ainsworth, a young Industrial Designer lived and worked on Twickenham Green in south west London - an area known for its film and television studios. Nick Pemberton, who lived nearby, was a successful scenic artist and puppeteer. Nick was approached by the 'buyer' for StarWars to make various helmets and ancillary items for the film. Nick took the work on with the idea of convincing Andrew to produce the characters as Nick was impressed with the plastic moulding techniques that Andrew was developing just a few doors away.
Nick created a red clay mock up of the Stormtrooper helmet which George Lucas approved. Nick then asked Andrew to make the prototype helmet showing him the red clay mock up and two sketches by Ralph McQuarrie. It was now over to Andrew to turn these into a living, breathing Stormtrooper helmet......
