Authentic
"We've not changed or sanitised the helmet design as we know our prop collector customers want them exactly the same as they were when we first made them in 1976. Originals!" Andrew Ainsworth
Using the original master moulds each helmet has the same idiosyncrasies as the orginal screen-used helmet. Each helmet is uniquely numbered and signed by the original creator, Andrew Ainsworth.
These unique collectibles are the only helmets ever produced from the original moulds, used to create the screen-used helmets back in 1976. These helmets are not mere 'replicas' of the original screen-used helmet. They're much more than that........a piece of movie prop history.
After 30 or so years in prop storage, the production line at SDS Props simply continued where the 1976 run left off. Buy an Original Stormtrooper Hero helmet from us and you acquire a 'Blood-Brother' to the screen-used originals.
How it all started
In 1976, Twickenham based Andrew Ainsworth of Shepperton Design Studios sculpted, fabricated and produced the original helmets and armour used in the first Star Wars movie.
Andrew notes "I'm often asked about the differences between the Hero and the Stunt helmets. Physically, the helmets have subtle differences in facial characteristics. The Hero helmets were made for the leading actors in the film and were also used in many close-up shots. They differ from the Stunt helmets as they feature grey bubble lenses, a smaller frown and a lowered brow. For the original film the majority of helmets produced were Stunt helmets (over 50) with only about 6 Hero helmets made."
