A visually stunning, unique and wearable collectible. Our Shadow Trooper armour is an accurate replica of the Stormtrooper armour we produced in 1976 – only using today’s more advanced production techniques and thermo-plastics. This is a one-of-a-kind collectible that you’ll also want to wear time and time again.

Authentic
Original armour from the original prop maker.
In 1976, Andrew Ainsworth sculpted, fabricated and produced the original helmets and armour used in the first Star Wars movie. Thirty years on, Andrew dusted down his original moulds and resumed production.
Andrew explains "the Black Trooper was originally marked to be the Imperial Pilot, but is now loved in the extended universe as another character. The Shadow Trooper armour is an accurate replica of the Stormtrooper armour we produced for screen-use in 1976."
Each set of armour is hand-made by the original prop-makers using original 1976 Stormtrooper movie moulds. Many of the same materials have been used although, where necessary, more modern plastics have been used which weren’t available in the days of ANH.
How it all started
Andrew Ainsworth remembers his first ANH meeting on 23 January 1976 "After I made the initial Stormtrooper prototype I was introduced to John Mollo, Costumer Designer for the film. John was an excellent communicator. We had an empathy - an understanding of what was required and John used every character I gave him."
Dressing
Our armour comes ready-to-wear straight out of the box with the black body suit, gloves, hand armour and a professional “popper” integrated strap system. There is enough tolerance in the armour that it can accommodate sizes typically varying from 5’6” to 6’2” with different builds, and as a modular design it can easily be adapted for people outside these core dimensions.
