Description
A do-it-yourself kit package comprising the Shadow Trooper armour and Shadow Trooper helmet. The combined kit offers substantial savings on our ready-to-wear products while still offering the same accurate replica finish.
The armour is an accurate replica of the Stormtrooper armour we produced in 1976 for ANH, only using today’s more advanced production techniques and thermo-plastics. The visually stunning black helmet is made to withstand the wear and tear of 'Trooping' events - a collector’s item which is also great for the costumer.
Both pieces are made from 2mm acrylic capped ABS, include full assembly instructions and all the parts you need. We make sure that your finished product can be as good as the real thing by accurately pre-trimming the parts and supplying all the fixings made by us. Enjoy the experience!
Shadow Trooper armour kit
- Strikingly coloured to match the Shadowtrooper helmet.
- Professional ‘popper’ integrated strap system
- Black body suit, gloves and hand armour included (white boots and light sabre not included)
- Accommodates various body dimensions – typically 5’6 to 6’2 (165-185cm) with various builds.
- Armour stud connectors are pre-made on ABS washers
- Gluing position for the connectors is marked on the inside of the armour.
- Leg jointing strip cut to width and pre-made elastic straps supplied
- White ABS glue and strong adhesive backed Velcro are included

- Voice-coder and ear communication mouldings are supplied pre-painted
- Kit includes the brow trim, neck trim and all fixings.

Authentic
In 1976, Andrew Ainsworth sculpted, fabricated and produced the original helmets and armour used in the first Star Wars movie. Thirty years on, he dusted down his original moulds which had been carefully stored in his props warehouse and resumed production.
The Shadow Trooper armour and helmet in this kit are accurate replicas of the props we produced in 1976 for ANH, only using today’s more advanced production techniques and thermo-plastics. Originating from the same moulds as the Stormtrooper originals, your kit Shadow Trooper is made to withstand all the wear and tear of Trooping events - a collector’s item which is also perfect for the costumer.
How it all started
In early 1976, Andrew was busy producing 50 Stormtrooper helmets for ANH after the success of his prototype. A call came in from John Mollo - ANH Costume Designer. Andrew was asked to visit Elstree studios the next day to discuss how the Stormtrooper armour could be produced. Andrew remembers: "There were rough initial concept drawings, but the Studio was really struggling to turn them into reality. Luckily for me, and bizarre as it sounds, my experience in working with plastic mouldings came up trumps and I brought the armour to life."
Dressing
Armour kit components are pre-trimmed and the armour accommodates various body dimensions – typically 5’6” to 6’2” (165-185cm) with various builds. Once you have assembled the armour kit, you may find our armour dressing instructions useful.
