Authentic
Original helmets made and signed by the original prop maker.
Andrew Ainsworth of Shepperton Design Studios sculpted, fabricated and produced the original helmets used in the first Star Wars movie in 1976. Thirty years on, Andrew dusted down his original moulds and resumed helmet and armour production.
The helmets you buy today from OriginalStormtrooper.com are the most accurate replicas of the screen-used helmets ever produced. Each helmet is hand-made by the original prop-makers using the original 1976 movie moulds. Many of the same materials have been used although, where necessary, more modern plastics have been used which weren’t available in the days of ANH.
How it all started
In 1976, after making the Stormtrooper helmets and armour, Shepperton Design Studios made around a dozen Rebel Fleet helmets for on-screen use in Episode IV - A New Hope. Andrew recalls "the materials and processes being used were all very new and experimental, especially getting the undercut right – but everyone was delighted with the finished results and they looked superb on screen."
