The ultimate E11 Blaster with superb level of detailing and lightweight construction – ideal for trooping.

Description

A super-accurate E11 Blaster, with the level of originality, detail and quality you expect from SDS. This is the definitive item, with all the features of the most complicated blaster used in ANH. Including castings from Sterling sub-machine gun parts as used for the original props and personalised with a unique serial number, the blaster is made from lightweight, composite materials so that at just 700g (25oz), trooping all day is no sweat.

The scope, power unit and grip are cast directly from the original. There's fantastic detailing in the internal rifle barrel, barrel vent holes, T-track cooling coils, safety catch, recoil spring, serrated rear sights, targeting sensors and power cylinders, plus removable power pack cartridge.

  • Removeable targeting sensors
  • Unique serial number
  • Attention to detail throughout

Authentic

The ultimate E11 blaster will complement your Stormtrooper armour. It’s built with the enthusiasm, originality and quality that you expect from all SDS products. Here’s how we’ve created this super accurate Blaster.

Super-accurate barrel and stock: The blaster barrel includes T-track "cooling coils" or condensers. Our T-track is a PVC extrusion from the correct period and sits tightly onto the barrel. Some sources think that the original items were Morris Minor windscreen inserts; on experimenting with some original inserts, we've confirmed that these can't have been used as they're too flexible and would have distorted severely on a hot film set. The blaster extendable stock was used in the parked position, and we have accurately cast off the front end of the stock, along with the nozzle and sights.

Removeable targeting sensors: The blaster includes targeting sensors, an element of detail which gives a real quality feel to the device. The sensors are finely detailed and connect to the Scope Power unit (a digital counter on the original prop) via the curly wires. The sensors can be removed if not required: not all of the original blasters included them.

Unique serial number: The Scope power unit was originally a digital counter, mounted on the side of the scope bracket. The nice thing about this element of the Blaster is that we can use the digital readout to show the serial number of each gun. Your Blaster will have a personalised, unique serial number to identify it.

Attention to detail throughout: The exposed recoil spring is a detail that is embedded inside the barrel. It's not clear if this spring was removed in some of the original blasters, but as it was an important part of the original Sterling gun, we have included it. The scope is an accurate casting from an original, right down to the serial number engraved into the top. The bracket on which the scope is mounted sits on the barrel, behind the cooling coils and in front of the rear sights, and also houses the scope power unit.

Superb detailing on the grip and trigger: The fine detail on the grip is second to none. The trigger is separated out from the body of the gun and the safety catch is clearly visible.

Original markings clearly visible: The real quality of this piece can be seen in the accurate reproduction of detail, clearly exposing the original markings right down to the Patent Numbers on the original Sterling gun.

Removeable Power Pack: The Power Pack, the magazine on the original Sterling gun, is detachable using a jack plug arrangement. This reduces the overall size of the gun for storage, allowing it to pack into a flatter case.

How it all started

It all began with sculpting the helmet mould for the Stormtrooper helmet. "I made no sketches, no models, no engineering drawings. I sculpted the production moulds directly, using my own blends of resins, fillers and metal dusts. The production moulds were the sculptures - they were positives, negatives and reverse engineered. They incorporated undercuts and tumblehomes and produced a moulded finished article that caught the highlights and shadows of an organically formed being. It wrapped around the body as if it had grown." Andrew Ainsworth describing his approach to sculpting the Stormtrooper helmet mould in 1976.
